If you frequently use the voice memo feature of WhatsApp, here is some good news for you. The messaging app is testing new features that will allow users to change the playback speed of voice memos to suit their needs. Currently, there is no way to speed up a voice memo; you must manually drag the marker forward to reach different parts of the message.
What will this new WhatsApp feature do?
According to Wabetainfo, one of the most trusted forecasters when it comes to WhatsApp related news, the messaging app is testing a feature that allows it to increase the message playback speed by 1.5x and 2x the speed. However, there is no way to slow down the message. That is something that may come along with a future update.
In May, WhatsApp introduced a feature that allows people to quickly pass extremely long messages so that one can get to the meat faster. However, the functionality is not available for all messages. For those of you who have friends who send wordy messages quite often, this can end up being a blessing.
Other WhatsApp updates
WhatsApp is working on a number of other updates to improve the user experience. Some of these include a new communities feature that will work like Discord, new icons and emojis, and more. When it comes to voice messages, WhatsApp is also working on some updates that will allow users to exit the chat while listening to voice messages so that they can scroll through their other messages while the same is being played. Currently, if you exit chat while listening to a voice memo, the voice stops ringing and you have to start listening to it from the beginning. You can manually forward the bookmark to listen from a different location, but it’s still tedious.
