WhatsApp Adds New Last Seen Status Controls

TO UPDATE: Another new addition is that WhatsApp hides from Last Seen users of the unsaved numbers with which you have not had a conversation before.

WhatsApp has embarked on a privacy-focused journey in recent months with features that ensure users of its platform have a private experience.

Its last feature is to add a new fourth option to the Last seen status feature. The Last currently viewed status feature allows you to set your status to be visible with three options: Everyone, My contacts or No one.

The messaging app will soon add a new option that will be right for most, if not all, people. You will soon be able to set your last seen status to be visible to specific contacts thanks to the recently added option: My contacts except.

This option is now available in its ephemeral state feature.

This feature will come in handy when you just want your close friends or family to only know when was the last time you were in the app. Other contacts, including acquaintances, do not need to know how recent your use of the app was.

Here’s what that option looks like based on WABetaInfo.

Other features the Facebook-owned platform is working on include emoji message reactions, a 90-day option for disappearing messages, independently encrypted cloud backups, and more.
