CIO Middle East has compiled a list of some of the most important and exciting technology events in the region, specially selected for IT leaders working in private companies and public administrations. This list will be updated as more events are confirmed throughout the year.
We recommend that you double-check the status of any in-person event you wish to attend before committing to travel. Check back for updates!
January 17-19: Future Sustainability Summit, Abu Dhabi. Tech leaders in the Middle East are increasingly concerned with sustainability initiatives. This conference hosts discussions on how advances in artificial intelligence, big data and IoT (internet of things) can accelerate sustainable development.
February 19-20: 3rd International Conference on IOT, Big Data and Security (IOTBS 2022), Dubai. The event aims to act as a forum for the presentation of innovative ideas, approaches, developments and research projects in the areas of IOT, big data and security. It will also serve to facilitate the exchange of information between researchers and industry professionals.
February 22-24: IDC / Middle East CIO Summit, Dubai. The 2022 edition of the IDC Middle East CIO Summit is a hybrid event. The first two days will be in person in Dubai and the third day will be an online event, focused on the GCC region. The conference will explore the increasing pace of innovation, examine the region’s evolving technology landscape, and present best-practice strategies that will help organizations transform into future digitally resilient businesses.
January 24-27: Arab health, Dubai. Arab Health is a medical equipment exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in healthcare and bringing together a variety of players from the healthcare industry.
February 9: IDC 2022 addresses, Egypt. The Egypt edition of this IDC Directions event will examine digital acceleration trends in the country, aiming to provide essential guidance to the region’s leading ICT providers on proven best practices to become new age digital partners for Your clients.
February 15 and 16: Smart city expo, Dubai The event combines a conference with what the organizers announce as a “state-of-the-art show floor,” all aimed at business managers, directors, urban administrators and international authorities responsible for developing urban policies. Conference topics include smart grids, transportation, healthcare, building management systems, enterprise IoT, fog computing, concert data analytics, and smart government.
February 22-24: ISACA Asia Conference, Manama, Bahrain. This combination of face-to-face and virtual sessions on a wide variety of security topics.
4-16 March: IDC Security Roadshow (Turkey), in person and online. The theme of the fair is: Raise the security of the company of the future. How can CISOs and senior security experts ensure the security of the business while supporting, or even accelerating, digital transformation?
March 21-23: GISEC, Dubai. The Gulf Information Security Exhibition and Conference, better known as GISEC, is the largest security conference in the Middle East. The organizers in 2021 expected more than 8,500 attendees and also offered 300 conferences and workshops. The conference covers trends including AI, IoT, 5G, and cloud technology.
April 14 and 15: International Conference on Vehicle, Mobile and Wearable Technology, Dubai The conference has been organized for scientists, academics, engineers and students from universities around the world and industry to present ongoing research activities and foster research relationships between universities and industry.
October 18 and 19: Techspo, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Techspo features a variety of technologies, including mobile apps and SaaS, but it has a marketing and advertising flavor, with the organizers citing ad technology and marketing technology as top topics.
October: GITEX, Dubai. (A precise date in October 2022 has not yet been announced.) GITEX is the largest technology event in the Middle East and one of the largest in the world. GITEX has yet to release a full agenda for the 2021 conference, but the sessions are likely to replicate the focus themes for 2020 to some extent, including: 5G, smart cities, AI, and healthcare.
GITEX is now the main event of GITEX Week, which in 2020 included the GITEX Future Stars start-up conference, Marketing Mania and Future Blockchain Summit (see below).
October: Future Blockchain Summit, Dubai. Future Blockchain Summit, once again part of GITEX Week, bills itself as “the largest blockchain festival in the world”. Speakers come from academia, business, stock exchanges, government, and technology providers.
