We knew the latest Caped Crusader movie starring Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Robert Pattinson would be more intense than the 90s movies, and boy, is it dark, but we weren’t 100% sure it would live up to the legacy. from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
The latest trailer for The Batman that debuted on Warner Bros. Pictures YouTube page and showcases Paul Dano’s dark new take on Riddler and a taste of Batman and Catwoman’s tenuous relationship has totally changed our minds.
Take a look for yourself:
The film comes from director Matt Reeves and will be released exclusively in theaters on March 4, 2022.
Jigsaw, is that you?
If you’re of a certain age, you might remember The Riddler played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever. Carrey brought a certain brand of … uh, insanity, to the character, yet he wasn’t as compelling as a crime lord or rival. Batman’s potential.
The Paul Dano Riddle, however, is not playing. His will to ruthlessly kill, as the trailer demonstrates, shows that The Riddler is actually just as deranged as The Joker and just as motivated to find out who is hiding under Batman’s hood. It’s honestly giving off some real Jigsaw vibes.
This deadly intent to find out who Batman is and crumble Wayne’s legacy along the way is proving to be a superbly compelling plot for a Batman movie.
