Pakistan’s Air Link Communication Limited announced on Tuesday that it has formed a distribution agreement with Chinese smartphone maker realme.
According to the details in the report published by Commercial recorder, Air Link has stated that the agreement covers a full range of realme mobile devices and accessories, IoT products and televisions in Pakistan.
“Realme is one of the fastest growing smartphone brands for five consecutive quarters, recorded sales of 100 million smartphones worldwide,”Said the notification issued by Air Link.
This is an important development for Air Link, which is already licensed to manufacture mobile phones for Transsion Holding’s main brands, namely Tecno and iTel. Furthermore, its subsidiary Select Technologies Private Ltd obtained a manufacturing license from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) last month to manufacture Xiaomi phones in Pakistan.
This development is also a boost for Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing sector, which has been on an upward trajectory in recent months.
In fact, the production of mobile phones by local manufacturing plants more than doubled compared to the import of commercial mobile phones into the country during January-November 2021. During this period, local production was recorded at 22.12 million compared to imported mobile phones. of 9.95 million.
Air Link is one of the largest mobile telephony distributors in the country, with a current capacity of 400,000 units per month. Production capacity is expected to increase to 550,000 units per month by fiscal year 23.
