OPPO Reno6 5G Unboxing And First Impressions – Techspace Africa

So I have the OPPO Reno6 5G for some time … No, but I have, OPPO Kenya recently introduced the device in the Kenyan market offering it as their first 5G capable device in the market thanks to the powerful Dimensity 900 chipset, but 5G is far from being adopted in the market with only a select few having access to the ultra-fast bandwidth, so how does the device hold up in other areas, is it worth the hefty penny for which it is retailing?

But first, let’s unpack the OPPO Reno6 5G

OPPO Reno6 5G first impressions

The OPPO Reno6 5G is a beautiful device and it is available in two color options: Stellar Black and Aurora; OPPO Kenya was kind enough to send me the Aurora variant that changes color based on whatever light flux falls on it to manifest a brilliant look.

In terms of build, the phone is lightweight, at just 182g it’s easy to hold, take out of your pocket when you get a call, and all that normal daily use, the device also sports strong Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to prevent scratches from coins and keys in your pocket.

Speaking of waiting I’ll go ahead and give you a call, the device is a copy of the iPhone, the phone looks like the latest generation of Apple smartphones with the hard edges that wrap around the Reno 6 chassis. The corners are rounded and the transition of the sides to the screen is solid and beautiful. To top off the high build quality, OPPO has equipped the new Reno 6 with an anti-fingerprint rear matte finish.

In simpler terms, once you adapt to these corners, the OPPO Reno6 5G is a pleasure to hold.

The display is a beautiful edge-to-edge display (~ 88.3% screen-to-body ratio) 6.43 ′ 1080p AMOLED that gets super bright at 430 nits (typical), 600 nits (HBM), and 750 nits (peak). To top it off, you get a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The display has been one of my favorite features on the device, that and haptic feedback.

No device has zero flaws and the OPPO Reno6 5G is no different. It would be unfair to rate the device after only a few days of use, but the device lacks a stereo speaker setup, a 3.5mm jack, no memory slot. extensible, no OIS and video stabilization and well this will all affect my final review.
