What states are using immunization registry apps?

Twelve states, including California, Colorado, Hawaii, New York Y Louisiana, offer SMART health cards that store vaccination records and COVID-19 test results.

Colorado residents, for example, can download the myColorado app: After creating an account, verifying your identity, and adding a digital version of your driver’s license to your phone, you can add your myVaccine record to the app. Louisiana LA Wallet app takes a similar approach, allowing you to add your driver’s license and proof of vaccination to your phone.

California requires that residents fill out a form to verify your identity, after which they will receive a text or email message with a link to a QR code that can be saved on their phone. When scanned, the code will offer proof of vaccination. The link will also include a digital copy of your immunization record.

Illinois residents can use VaxVerify, which Experian uses for identity verification.

New Yorkers have two application options: Excelsior Pass application and NYC Covid Safe.

We will continue to update this feature as more states offer apps and features to store your COVID-19 vaccine card online. And note if you get a booster dose, you will need to reload your vaccination card.

What to do if you lose your immunization record and how …

What if my state does not have an application that allows me to store my card?

If your state does not have an iPhone or Android app that allows you to store a copy of your immunization record, there are other ways to save it on your phone. However, what qualifies as valid proof can vary by state, city, county, or business.

Some venues may accept a photo of your physical vaccination card: for example, concert producer AEG Presents accepts a “physical copy of a COVID-19 vaccination record card, a digital copy of such a card, or any other locally permitted proof.” But you definitely want to find out if your city, county, or state does the same thing first.

Along with public school mandates, hundreds of private universities They also require students and employees to be vaccinated: Seattle University, which requires students to be vaccinated to attend classes in person, offers an online form for uploading photos of the front and back of their vaccination card.

When in doubt, look up information on the company’s website or call your local health department and ask for clarification. This is sure to save you time and the risk of being rejected at the door.

You can make the photo a favorite for quick location, or store it in a memo app, folder, or somewhere easy to remember. Make sure you are in a well-lit area and get close enough to the card so that the dates and other details are legible. Place the card on a dark surface and try to remove the shadows from your arms or from the phone itself.

Here’s a way for iPhone users to save their vaccination card as a new photo album: Open the Photos app, select the Albums tab and then touch the plus sign (+) in the upper left corner followed by New album. Give the album a name, and then tap Save money. Then select the photos from your card to add to the album.

On an Android it depends on the app you are using, but the process should generally be the same. What else can I use?

I was approached by a large number of readers about this article, each of whom offered advice and guidance on how to store a proof of vaccination card.

A popular suggestion is the well-known Clear airport security service. In fact, some concert and exhibition venues require attendees to use Clear to check their vaccination status to attend a show. You can go to clearme.com/healthpass to download the app and add your card.

Vax Yes is another service that checks your vaccination status and then adds your vaccination card to your Apple Wallet. I read that you can add your card to the Google Pay app, but after signing up and going through the process myself, I don’t see the option on a Pixel 5 running Android 12.

If your municipality or local employer uses the CDC Vaccine Management Management System, then you can use the VAMS website to access your immunization records. I have been contacted by more than one reader about using this system to show proof of vaccination, but without an account, I cannot go through the process of accessing a vaccination record.

Another suggestion I got from various readers is to use a scanner app on your phone and store a scanned copy of your vaccination card in something like your personal OneDrive vault or a password manager (almost all offer some kind of secure file storage ). to store the photo in Google Photos or Apple’s iCloud Photos. On an iPhone, you can use the scanner that integrated into the Notes app. On Android, Google’s PDF Stack scanner will be enough to get the job done.
