Industry leaders celebrate women founders breaking stereotypes in Pakistan

In recent news, COLABS, one of Pakistan’s leading coworking spaces hyper-focused on accelerating freelancers and startups, hosted a panel in collaboration with CIRCLE Women and the United States Department of State to celebrate ‘Founding women breaking stereotypes’ and ’16 days of activism against gender violence’.

It is a campaign initiated by the United Nations where the organization celebrates 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence from November 25 to December 10, 2021, under the global theme established by UNiTE of the UN Secretary General, called ‘ Orange the World: End Violence Against Women Now! ‘

The panel discussion revolved around creating a safe space and gender inclusive culture in the workplace for women to grow and succeed. How can industry leaders and organizations like the US Consulate help female founders and startups grow and reach relevant people?

Reid Howell mentioned that gender-based violence is a human rights problem and takes away all growth potential from women, who make up 49% of our population. Similarly, the lack of female representation causes our economy to operate below its potential, which means that it is an economic problem in itself.

The panel was attended by Reid Howell, Public Affairs Petty Officer, US Consulate.
