Final Fantasy XIV is so popular that Square Enix is telling people to stop buying it

Final Fantasy XIV It’s been killing him for the last few weeks. The MMO game has won several categories at The Game Awards. Square Enix just released its latest expansion, Endwalker, and it has become a haven for World of warcraft refugees. They are currently working on all engines.

Sounds like Square Enix and FFXIV director and producer, Naoki Yoshida is very well, right? No, because the game servers are so bloated that people cannot play. Not only can existing customers not play, but new customers can’t even create new characters.

To remedy this, Square Enix has decided temporarily suspend the sale and delivery of Final Fantasy XIV Starter and Complete Editions. Yes, for now, you cannot buy this popular game.

There’s actually a lot more to the full release here, but here’s the interesting part where the headline drew it:

Suspension of delivery of package versions and temporary suspension of sales of digital versions

Players are experiencing extremely long wait times due to the dense concentration of game hours far exceeding the capacity of our server, especially during peak hours, which is why we have decided to temporarily suspend the sale and delivery of FINAL FANTASY XIV Starter. Edition and Complete Edition. . Also, although those with an active subscription have priority to log in, free trial players cannot log in outside of the hours of the night and the early hours of the morning, so we will also temporarily suspend new registrations for the test. free.

These temporary suspensions will be rolled out gradually over the next few days as we work with our retail partners. We will coordinate with them as soon as possible, but please note that this will be a gradual process.

The statement also notes that current players can still upgrade their accounts and purchase expansion packs without hassle. He also notes that the company has been “working to build a new logical data center and add new worlds,” but that COVID-19 and the accompanying semiconductor shortages have hampered the process.

It’s going to be difficult, for sure. Last week, I would log in at noon and then avoid automatically logging out until I could play after work. I’ve seen a handful of streamers stay in a login queue for hours. Last Saturday night, I sat in a queue for four hours.

With everything so stuck and with no real solution in the immediate future, this will affect the success of Final Fantasy XIV‘s Endwalker? Are we going to start seeing people go and play other games like The new World?

Only time will tell, but I have certainly made it to the sixth page of From Fortnite new season and removed some missions in Halo: Infinity Meanwhile.
