Best Windows apps this week

Four hundred and seventy in a series. Welcome to this week’s overview of the best apps, games, and extensions released for Windows 10 and 11 in the Microsoft Store and elsewhere in the last seven days.

The annual Christmas sale has begun at the Microsoft Store, offering discounts of up to 50 percent. Sale ends January 2, 2022.

New Windows apps and games

O&O AppBuster

O&O AppBuster gives users control over pre-installed apps on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems.

The program displays lists of pre-installed applications, which can be uninstalled by system users. Not all applications can be uninstalled using the program; central system applications are locked and cannot be uninstalled to avoid unwanted consequences.

System restore points can be created and applications can be reinstalled using the application.

PacMan by WSA

Best Windows apps this week

WSA PacMan is an open source package manager and installer for the Windows subsystem for Android.

Android APK files can be installed by double-clicking the file once the application has been installed. Displays a running graphical user interface that lists the permissions the Android application requests and other information.

Notable updates

GIMP 2.10.30 The image editor ships with an improved PSD support format, among other improvements.

Opera GX is now also available on the Microsoft Store.

ThisIsWin11, a Windows tweaker, as a new interface with a wizard that guides users through setup.
