COLORADO – Aurora police are investigating a shooting in Nome Park near Central High School that resulted in the deaths of five children. The victims are between 14 and 17 years old, and all were taken to the hospital, local officials reported Monday.

Aurora Police Department tweeted:
Officers are at the scene of a shooting in Nome Park, Nome / 12th.
There are several people who have been shot, ages or conditions unknown. Central HS is blocked.
Unknown suspect, no longer on the scene.
“Five people in total have been transported to the hospital. The age ranges are 14 to 17, ”said the Aurora Police Department spokesman.
The shooting happened shortly before 1 p.m. Monday. Officers said they were looking for a suspect who had left the park.
The park is located at the intersection of Nome Street and 12th Avenue. Aurora Central High School, which is just south of the park, has been placed on a “secure perimeter.”
